About Us

I am a relative new-comer to the Spinone Italiano, having welcomed our girl “Rosi” to our family about 7 years ago. During that time, I have learned a lot about hunt training and testing, showing, conformation and movement, and all the wonderful things that make this breed so special. We have loved several dogs over the years, dogs that held an honored place in our family, and our hearts. When we lost our Airedale to cancer at age 11, I began searching for another dog to add to our family. I had always been intrigued by the Spinone, so over the next year, I researched the breed, met some dogs, talked with breeders, and finally, welcomed our first puppy, Quattro Zampe L’Angelo Della Note, aka “Rosi” to our family in July of 2011.

I had always been interested in conformation, showing, and breeding, and since the Spinone is a versatile hunting dog, I wanted to be involved in that aspect as well. We started Rosi in Puppy Socialization classes, an obedience class for versatile hunting dogs, and at 6 months, entered Rosi in her first AKC All Breed show. With very limited showing, Rosi earned her AKC Championship title over the course of the next year, and went on to earn her Grand Championship title.

We joined the Spinone Club of America, NAVHDA, attended National Breed Specialties, took advantage of MN NAVDHA’s hunt training, and entered Rosi to run her NA test through NAVHDA, and Jr. Hunter through AKC.

I had decided early on that while I was interested in breeding, I would not pursue it unless Rosi met all my qualifications for breeding; excellent conformation and type, and adherence to the breed standard; excellence in natural hunt ability and health, and the wonderful sweet temperament of the breed that makes them such a joy to live with. Rosi met and exceeded our expectations in all categories, and has produced two lovely litters. We kept a sweet clown of a girl from Rosi’s second litter, Acorn Hill’s Luck of the Draw. A 12 year old Tibetan Terrier is also part of our family. “Nora” is worth her weight in gold as Auntie to puppies, a wonderful playmate and a patient, wise teacher.

We are originally from the Twin Cities, but have recently moved to the small town of Hayward, Wisconsin. My husband and I live on a beautiful lake close to town, and our Spinoni take full advantage of the lake for swimming, jumping off the dock, and keeping an eye on all the ducks. We have two grown children, and a large extended family who are happy to assist with puppies.

The Spinone is still a rare breed, but growing in popularity…for good reason…they are sweet, soulful dogs that make excellent family companions, and skilled, focused upland bird dogs. We are always happy to welcome visitors who are interested in meeting the breed.
